Abstract

432,712. Electric furnaces. RENNERFELT, I., 14, Torgerdsvõgen, Djursholm, Stockholm. Dec. 27, 1933, No. 36408. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1932. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 25, 1934.] [Class 39 (iii)] An induction furnace with an open magnetic core 4 having polepieces 5, 6 adjacent the hearth is provided with one or more arcing electrodes 18, 19 arranged in the upper part of the furnace. Cooling tubes 9, 10, 11 for the core are provided. The polepieces 5, 6 are secured to a jacket 14 of aluminium or bronze by brackets 12 of material of low permeability. Pole shoes 25 may be provided on the polepieces 5, 6 and the polepiece 5 may be omitted. In a modification, an annular core arranged under the hearth is provided with a number of vertical polepieces.
