Abstract

302,308. HõrdÚn, J. Dec. 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Induction furnaces. -The starting charge for a low frequency furnace 2 having a closed iron core 3 is melted in a high frequency furnace 5 not having a closed core and connected with the low frequency furnace by a duct 7. The furnace 5 is supplied from the same current source as the furnace 2 by the interposition of means for frequency changing. The low frequency furnace may utilize polyphase current and may be heated before receiving the initial charge by inserting therein a closed metal ring. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes an arrangement wherein the high frequency furnace is portable and is used to feed one or more low frequency furnaces, transportation being effected by a travelling crane. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
