Induction furnaces. - The primary circuit <p2> comprises a very small number of turns and follows as closely as possible the secondary circuit S which is constituted by the whole or part of the charge and together with the primary surrounds one limb of a closed magnetic circuit. Another limb of the circuit is surrounded by a primary R and a secondary P<1> by means of which the supply voltage is stepped down to the voltage at which it is desired to feed the circuit P<2>. The primary P<2> comprises two turns arranged inside and outside the secondary S respectively, and connected by thick metal bars K to the coil P<1>. Part of the furnace primary may be arranged under the furnace at Q and a part may be arranged on top of the furnace. Furnaces may be constructed to use polyphase current. Other furnaces described are one wherein one limb of the core passes through a furnace crucible horizontally and one wherein the secondary contains part of the charge only and is connected for circulation to the furnace crucible. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a furnace, Fig. 2 (Cancelled), wherein the primary transformation does not occur on the furnace core. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
