Abstract

422,536. Electric furnaces. RENNERFELT, I., 14, Torgerdsvagen, Djursholm, Sweden. June 13, 1934, No. 17489. [Class 39 (iii)] In a combined arc and induction electric furnace, 60-80 per cent of the energy is supplied by the arc heating. The induction heating is sufficient only for agitating the charge and maintaining its temperature. The induction coils may be provided in the usual manner with laminated iron cores and cooling arrangements, and may be constructed to employ various frequencies. A condenser or an overexcited synchronous motor may be used to supply the wattless magnetizing currents. Specifications 135,639, [Class 39 (iii)], and 349,446 are referred to.
