Feb. 11, 1931, No. 4300. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1930. [Class 38 (iii).] A synchronous motor 10 is started as an induction motor under excess voltage supplied by a compensator 11, switches 15, 20 being closed. Thereafter field switch 29 is closed, switch 20 is opened, leaving the motor under supply with part of the compensator windings acting as chokes, switch 21 is closed to connect the motor directly to the mains and switch 15 is opened to disconnect the compensator.
