Abstract
305,620. Northrup, E. F. Sept. 8, 1927. Divided on 301,954. Induction furnaces.-A polyphase induction fur. nace of the type wherein the furnace coil is not penetrated by transformer iron is supplied with current by a transformer in which the number of secondary phases is a multiple of the number of primary phases. The transformer may have a three-phase primary and a 6, 12, or 24 phase secondary. The furnace coil is divided into sections b<1> - - b<6> each connected at one end to one of the secondary phases d<1> - - d6 and at the other end to the neutral point. Condensers hare connected across the secondary phases.
