[Class 39 (iii).] In.a furnace without a closed ferro-magnetic circuit the winding 2 is surrounded by a ferro-magnetic shell 3 and annular ferromagnetic plates 4 are inserted between the turns of the winding to conduct the flux between the shell and the surface of the charge.
