Abstract
444,000. Electric induction furnaces. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Aug. 7, 1935, No. 22352. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1934. [Class 39 (iii)] An induction furnace has two energizing systems, the inner one comprising a coil 4 and the outer comprising an annular iron yoke 8 extending, around the furnace and formed of laminations lying in planes transverse to the axis of the furnace, the yoke being provided with poles 5 and energizing coils 9. The coil 4 may be supplied with high frequency current and serve as the heating coil of the furnace, while the coils 9 may be supplied with low frequency current and serve to agitate the charge in the furnace. The turns of coil 4 are displaced to allow the polepieces 5 to pass through the coil. A screening device such as a copper ring is arranged between the coil 4 and the poles 5 if the latter are unsymmetrically arranged with respect to the coil.
