Abstract
502,082. Heating by electromagnetic induction. FEKETE, A. F., and HALASZ, P. July 7, 1937, No. 18863. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (iii)] IN low-frequency inductive heating without a closed iron core, the physical dimensions, the permeability, and the rosistivity of the eddy current carrier, and the frequency and voltage are related to satisfy certain conditions set out in the Specification to give an optimum efficiency and an economical power factor. The Specification also describes requirements to be satisfied by the induction coil in view of eddy current loss therein. The eddy current carrier may consist of a crucible, a lining thereof, or a conducting body arranged in a granular or broken charge. In a modification the carrier is a liquid arranged in an annular vessel surrounding a crucible. In a further modification the carrier is constituted by the tubes of a boiler the inductor being formed by wires arranged axially in the tubes.
