Convention date, Jan. 13, 1934. Addition to 382,002. [Class 39 (iii)] In a furnace according to the parent Specification, a coil 2 for high frequency current, preferably wound about a vertical axis, is arranged between the pancake coils 3 and the hearth 1, and the turns of the latter coils cross the turns of the high frequency coil to a preponderating extent. The coil 2 is cooled so as to effect cooling of the pancake coils and the pole shoes.
