Abstract

252,037. Evreynoff, G. Dec. 11, 1924. Electrode furnaces.- In a furnace 2 with means 4 for creating a magnetic field so as to produce a rotary are between an electrode 3 and the sides 1 of the melting compartment or the metal 7 therein, the electrode is sufficientlv small at its lower end to form a stationary base for one end of the arc, the other end of the arc rotating so as to form an arc 5 of revolving helicoidal or conical spiral shape. The arrangement is described in connection with stationary and tilting furnaces and in connection with direct current and single-phase, two-phase and three-phase alternating current.
