Abstract
376,478. Current transformers. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON), Ltd., Century Works, Lewisham, London, and SHOTTER, G. F., 14, The Ridgeway, Friern Barnet, Middlesex. June 24, 1931, No. 18263. [Class 38 (ii).] Relates to current transformers of the type in which a gap 5 is provided in the core 1 which is further adapted to straddle the bus-bar or other conductor 7 carrying the current to be measured, and consists in arranging the secondary winding (preferably in two halves 3) adjacent the gap in such position as to be unaffected by external flux due to current in adjacent conductors 9, 11. The core may be divided into two hingedly-connected halves as described in Specification 327,837, [Class 38 (ii), Electric currents, Converting &c.], and may be provided with screw-adjustable stop means for varying the length of the air gap. Fig. 4 shows a form employing a hinged core and having the secondary winding parts 53 arranged in pole elements 51 at the hinged end of the core. The hinge elements are formed by non-magnetic members 55. A small adjustable gap may be formed at the junction 49.
