Current meters.-An ammeter a is connected in series with a current transformer b consisting of a wound iron core slipped over a tubular high-tension conductor c, the connecting wire d passing through the tubular conductor c. The other end of the transformer winding and also the other ammeter terminal are connected to the high tension line. In a lowcurrent circuit, where the mechanical strength of the hightension conductor is insufficient, the ammeter and transformer may be supported from a wall &c. by a common insulator, in order to relieve the high-tension conductor of their weight.
