Transformers.-In a high-tension transformer in which the core c or casing l is strongly insulated from the earth and given a predetermined potential, the high-tension winding is divided into two sections a, b electrically connected together, the low-tension or exciting winding d being mounted between the two sections and strongly insulated from the core. The potential of the core is determined by a connection to the hightension winding. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the winding d is strongly insulated from both sections a, b of the high-tension winding, but in a modification, shown in the upper part of Fig. 3, the initial point of the high-tension winding is arranged at the end of the section b adjoining the winding d, so that the latter need only be insulated from the section a. The winding d may be supplied with current from a winding d<1> on an auxiliary transformer, as shown in the lower part of Fig. 3.
