Abstract

445,964. Current transformers. HARLAND ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., 196, Greengate, Manchester, and CATON, G., B.E.P. Works, Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Dec. 24, 1934, No. 36917. [Class 38 (ii)] A current transformer comprises an annular core 43, a secondary winding 45 distributed over the whole circumference of the core, a primary winding 44 distributed over at least half the circumference of the core, and a cylindrical casing 42 forming a bushing insulator surrounding the whole. The primary comprises a stranded conductor connected to a contact stem 51 and to a terminal head 49 and is spaced from the secondary by concentric insulating cylinders 46, 47. Switching means may be provided for connecting the primary turns in series or parallel. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a pair of annular cores carrying separate secondary windings are housed in a common bushing insulator and linked by a common primary.
