Abstract
439,901. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Aug. 10, 1934, No. 23173. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1933. [Class 38 (ii)] A current transformer has an insulating - shell 6 containing a primary winding 3 connected to terminal bars 4 and 5, and wound on a hollow insulating sleeve 3<a> which acts as a passage through the shell for the core 1 on the lower limb of which a secondary winding 2 is arranged. The shell is U-shaped in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the core and is open at the top, the top of the primary winding being below the level of the top of the shell. The two walls parallel to the plane of the core may be extended downwards and joined below the core by a plate to which the secondary terminals are secured. The shell may be provided with a channel shaped cap and may be constructed of ceramic or moulded insulating material.
