Abstract

Transformers.-In stationary induction apparatus having concentric windings, individual spacing-elements 21 are placed tangentially against the inner winding with their respective edges supporting the outer winding in order to lengthen the creepage path between the windings. The Figures show a transformer in which one terminal of the high-voltage winding is earthed. The high-voltage winding comprises a number of coils 14, 15, 16 of varying diameters, the winding 14, which has the highest potential, having the smallest diameter and being spaced furthest from the core. The spacing-elements 21 are given a stepped form, Fig. 4, to correspond with the varying diameters of the coils. The low-tension winding 18 is of cylindrical form and is provided with an insulating-cylinder 20 against which the elements 21 bear. The windings are surrounded by oil or other insulating-fluid.
