Abstract

143,160. Field, M. B. Dec. 31, 1919. Transformers.-Each conductor or sub-group 1, 2, 3 of a group in parallel is associated with a current transformer t, like ends of the secondary windings s of these transformers being connected to common terminals c, between which the primary winding T of a totalizing-transformer is connected. The secondary winding of this transformer is connected to an ammeter, integrating meter, relay, &c. A, which thus totalizes the currents in the conductors 1, 2, 3. The transformers t are of the " straight-through " type in which laminations P, Fig. 2, having elongated apertures are threaded over the conductor 1, which forms the primary winding. The secondary winding s is wound in layers equal in width to the primary conductor 1. Insulating keys K fix and centralize the transformer on the conductor 1. The transformer may be made up with a portion of the conductor 1, which may then be bolted to the bus-bars. The transformers t in the conductors 1, 2, 3 may be staggered so as to occupy little room in a direction at right-angles to the run of the conductors.
