155,832. Reiniger, Gebbert, & Schall Akt.-Ges. May 16, 1918, [Convention date]. Transformers. - In a high-tension transformer system in which one or more additional transformers are connected in series with a main transformer, the iron core and casing of each additional transformer are insulated from the earth and connected to a point in the high-tension winding in order to lower the stress across the insulation between the winding and the core. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the primary winding of the main transformer d is connected to the source of current c, and the one end a of the secondary winding is earthed. A section h of the secondary winding is connected to a section g of the winding e of the additional transformer. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the middle point of the secondary winding of the transformer d is earthed, and sections at each end of the winding are connected to sections of the windings of two symmetrically-arranged additional transformers. Several additional transformers may be connected in series, each successive transformer being excited from a section of the winding of the preceding transformer. Either or both of the sections g, h may form separate windings electrically connected to the main windings. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 7, the transformers are provided with additional windings vw and xz, the points v, y in the respective windings being connected to the ends of the main windings. In a modification, Fig. 8, the sections g, h are connected through an intermediate transformer p, the core of which is insulated and connected to the ends of the windings as shown. Specification 155,830 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that, in two-branch arrangements, the additional transformers may be provided with an equalizing winding connected to the core, the two halves of the winding being connected in parallel. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
