Abstract
1,105,425. Transformers. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd. 27 May, 1966, No. 24000/66. Heading H1T. A very high-frequency transformer for use with transmission line 11, 12, 13 consists of a primary winding 16 having parts 17, 18, 19 situated in a hole through the plates 11, 12, 13, such that the outer flanges of 17 and 18 are soldered to plates 11 and 13 at 23, 20 respectively. The plates may have a dielectric of polytetrafluoroethylene between them. A core 15, which may be of manganese zinc ferrite annular rings is in contact with the inner faces of parts 17 and 18 of the winding and cylinder 19 is soldered at 21, 22 to 17 and 18. Insulated secondary winding or windings are provided by coils (30-37) (Fig. 2, not shown) which are wound over the single turn 16 by passing through a series of holes 24, 24<SP>1</SP>, 24<SP>11</SP>; 25, 25<SP>1</SP>, 25<SP>11</SP>; (38-41) lined with insulating material, in the plates. These coils may be evenly spaced and connected in parallel with each other by conductive rings (42), concentric with the core. The core may be in two similar parts to enable plate 12 to centre-tap the primary winding. The core and winding may be toroidal or have a square form. The transformer can be used to feed current both out of and into the transmission line hence the primary winding can also be the secondary winding and vice-versa.
