Abstract
1,136,966. Transformers. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd. 25 Aug., 1966, No. 38112/66. Addition to 1,005,425. Heading H1T. The high frequency transformer mounted in a transmission line disclosed in the Specification 1,105,425, is modified in that the single turn primary winding is sub-divided into eight equally spaced copper strips 31-38 which are soldered alternately between the upper plate 11 and the central plate 12 and between the lower plate 13 and the central plate 12 so that the central plate 12 is connected to the mid-point of the winding to balance the line. The plate 12 is formed of two sheets 12<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>11</SP> rivetted or soldered together so that uniform spacing of the plates may be preserved as shown and the diameter of the hole in plate 12 is a little less than the diameters of each of the holes in the outer plates for easy connecting. At least one secondary winding consisting of multi-turn coils of enamelled copper wire is wound over the turns of the primary winding, separated from it by sheets of P.T.F.E., passing through the central hole of the core and through insulated holes 17, 20, 21 &o. provided in the primary turns and the plates. A connecting loop (79), (Fig. 3, not shown), and a similar loop (not shown) may connect the multi-turn coils in parallel with each other. The primary winding may be formed from a rectangular metal sheet and consist of limbs, having greater width near their extremities, attached to a marginal strip suitably apertured and slotted (Fig. 2, not shown). There may be an extra winding to provide a measuring or feedback potential difference.
