Abstract

891,006. Transformers. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 4, 1960 [April 17, 1959], No. 13214/59. Class 38 (2). A pulse transformer comprises a laminated core 1, a primary winding of two identical portions a1 a2 (Figs. 5 and 7) in parallel and a secondary winding also of two identical portions b1 b2 in parallel, the high voltage end of the primary windings being connected to the core and the windings being so shaped and arranged that the distances between adjacent parts of the windings and between the windings and adjacent parts of the core are substantially proportional to the potential differences between them. A conducting element 3 connected to the high voltage ends of the secondary windings may act as a stress distributer. The core may be supported on an insulating member or suspended in a tank of oil. The transformer may be arranged as a double-wound transformer instead of an autotransformer as shown in Fig. 7.
