Abstract

498,756. Transformers. BRITISH SANGAMO CO., Ltd., BUTHERUS, F. R., and SMITH, H. F. July 9, 1937, No. 19130. [Class 38 (ii)] A current transformer comprises a toroidal core 2, Fig. 1, carrying a secondary winding 1 and mounted in an insulating housing 3 the core being inserted through an opening at the bottom of the housing 3, and retained in position by interengaging insulating sleeves 5 through which the bar primary 6 passes. The secondary is connected to the terminals 11 which are provided with spring contacts 13 to short circuit the secondary when the apparatus being supplied is removed. To enable the transformer to be suspended in a line lugs 28, Fig. 6, may be attached to the ends of the primary conductor 6. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the primary circuit is completed within the sleeves 5 by a bolted connector 15. Fig. 4 shows a modified form in which the primary circuit consists of several turns 17 in parallel.
