Abstract

328,772. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges., and Wellhofer, F. April 17, 1929. Transformers.-In a cur. rent transformer for use on high tension circuits, the insulation between the two windings is applied mainly round the low tension winding. The transformer comprises a ring core 1 carrying the low tension secondary 2, both being enclosed in insulating material 3 joined to an insulating tube 4 surrounding the connecting leads 5, 6 of the low tension winding, conducting inserts 29 being provided within the tube. One or more hoods 13 are formed integrally with the insulator. The high tension primary 16 is applied over the insulation 3, one end being connected to a strap 15 in conductive connection with a metallic coating on the surface of the insulation, the other end being connected to a strap 18 insulated from the coating. The transformer may be supported from a member 12 by a rod 8 passing centrally through the tube 4 and secured to the core. Alternatively, the rod may be used to secure the tube 4 in a ferrule provided with supporting feet. In another modification, the metallic coating around the insulation 3 is replaced by a divided metal casing built around the insulation and provided with supporting lugs.
