Abstract
439,996. Power-factor, current, and pressure measurements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, TURNER, H. C., and SHERWIN, A., c/o Salford Electrical Instruments, Ltd., Silk Street, Salford, Lancashire. Sept. 13, 1934, No. 26289. [Class 37] Power - factor meters comprise two core parts 1, 2 hinged together and providing a small airgap at 8, a moving iron member 4 being located adjacent the hinge and one or more voltage coils 6, 7 being provided on the core. In order to measure power-factor, the core parts are opened to embrace a conductor 10 a predetermined deflection of the pointer 5 being obtained with a set air-gap. The instrument is then removed from the conductor and the voltage coils connected, adjustment of the resistance' 9 being made until the same deflection is obtained. The conductor 10 is again inserted with the voltage connection made, the resultant deflection indicating the power factor. Scales of power-factors, amperes and volts may be provided.
