Abstract

Combinations of instruments; electromagnetic current and pressure meters; sets of resistances. -A testing set, particularly applicable for testing wireless installations, is provided with two electrically independent measuring instruments mounted in a common case each instrument having a multi way switch and a set of series or shunt resistances. Two moving-coil instruments a, bare adapted for voltage and current measurement respectively. The voltmeter a is provided with two sets of series resistances controlled by a multiway single pole switch t. One set consists of resistances i - - m, each connected to the moving coil at one end and to one of a series of studs o - - s at the other end , so that any one may be connected by the switch in series with the instrument and to a positive terminal y for low-voltage measurements. The other set of resistances c, d, e are permanently connected, in series with one another and with the moving coil, to a stud h, the intermediate functions being brought to studs f, g so that one, two or three of the resistances c. d, e may be included between the moving coil and a positive terminal z for high voltage measurements. The armature b has two sets 1 - - 3 and 4 - - 8 of shunt resistances, which are permanently connected in series between a negative terminal 9, and a positive terminal 10, the moving coil being connected to the same terminals, in series with a resistance 11. Two further positive terminals 12, 13 are connected to the arm of a multiway switch 14 for low and high current measurements respectively. The shunts 4 - - 8 are arranged so that they can be withdrawn as a unit without affecting the accuracy of the instrument, for example by winding on a common bobbin having five channels in which the separate resistances are wound. External shunts may be connected between the terminals 9, 10 for measuring currents of higher values. The switches t, 14 are provided with pillars which both support the switches from the casing and form the terminals.
