Electromagnetic current and pressure meters, according to the parent Specification, are now provided with a wound coil W of two or more turns for use with small currents or as a shunt winding for a voltmeter. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the coil W is hand wound through porcelain or other insulating-tubes Y, or may be former wound and then insulated by wrapping or moulding with insulating material. An air gap is left between the coil and the instrument of sufficient width to avoid a brush discharge. The coil may be of insulated wire or strip, or of bare strip interleaved with insulating tape, terminal connections being brought out at Z. The winding W may be changed or renewed without opening the cover L of the case X.
