Abstract

387,035. Insulation for dynamo-electric machines. TUSTIN, A., 22, Glentilt Road, Sheffield, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Sept. 17, 1931, Nos. 26085/31 and 2406/32. [Class 35.] The end connections are insulated from the teeth by means of pieces of moulded pressboard or the like fitting over the ends of the teeth and projecting into the slots. Fig. 1 shows the press board formed as a hood consisting of parts 1 .. 4 to enclose the ends of the tooth, side flanges 8 fitting into the bottom of the slots and end flanges resting on the coil end supports. The flanges are made in two portions 8<1>, 8<11>, the portion 8<1> of one hood overlapping the portion 8<11> of the next as shown, Fig. 3, so as to give a creepage path equal to the full width of a tooth or a slot. The hoods are made to fit over the fingers 5, Fig. 4, holding the core laminations in place and are secured by wire bindings 11, 12. Modifications are described to fit cores without the fingers 5 and in which the separate pieces of insulation fit between the teeth instead of over them.
