682,357. Conductors for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 31, 1950 [Nov. 5, 1949], No. 26550/50. Class 35. A rotor has slot winding consisting of two different conducting materials of different widths, e.g. copper and aluminium aecommodated in the same stepped slots, but the end windings are all of the same width. Fig. 2 shows a winding slot 13 having an innermost portion 13a in which conductors 14 of copper are placed and in the wider outer portion 13b aluminium bars 15 are placed. This arrangement of providing lighter conductor at the outside will reduce the centrifugal force of the whole winding. Fig. 3 shows how the end turns are formed. Aluminium end turns 15a, 17 are used for both aluminium and copper bars 15, 14 respectively. The end turns 15a are integral extensions of the bars 15 while the other end turns 17 are joined to the bars 14.
