Abstract
622,032. Coils for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., WALKER, J. H., and COLEMAN, R. W. T. March 4, 1947, No. 6151. [Class 35] In a field coil for the rotor of a high-speed machine the portions of the conductors or conductor layers on the sides of the poles facing the adjacent poles are so bent or disposed as to lie tangentially, or approximately so relatively to the rotor axis. As shown, the coil of strip wound on edge has the side portions of its inner turn bent so that it is tangential at the centre of its lower surface and the other turns are-bent through the same angle. The coil is held between insulating wedges 6 and some turns such as 8 may be extended to serve as cooling fins. Specification 594,778 is referred to.
