Abstract
375,537. Balanced valves. CROSBY VALVE & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., 41, Foley Street, and CROSSLEY, A., 53, The Avenue, Highams Park, both in London. June 17, 1931, No. 17555. [Class 135.] A balanced double-beat valve comprises a valve member having a pair of discs d, e, which engage a pair of seatings b, c, and a fixed piston i located in a cylindrical chamber h in the valve member which by means of a passage or passages l in the valve member is subject to the same fluid pressure as the discs, the piston being equal or approximately equal in area to the difference in area of the valve seatings. The valve is provided with controlling means which consist of a dead weight p adjustably mounted on a lever n which is pivoted to the valve stem m and of a spring or springs q. The valve may be closed by the pressure of the controlled fluid acting on a diaphragm or piston s connected to the lever n by a member r.
