Abstract

11,037. Firth, T. H., Simmons, C., and Short, J. T. May 4. Combinations of interdependent valves. - A combination of interdependent lift valves adapted for use with hydraulic apparatus comprises a pair of similar valves approximately balanced both above and below their seats and each provided with a pair of differential pistons on the outlet side subjected to a constant fluid pressure, the lower piston being of sufficient area to make the valve self-closing. Each valve e is provided on the inlet side with a spindle k of approximately the same diameter as the seat aperture, which spindle carries a crosshead l adapted to be engaged by a cam m on the actuating lever n. The movement of this lever is limited by a pin r engaging fixed stops q on the casing. The crossheads are secured by nuts, and their position adjusted by inserting washers P. Each valve is balanced on the outlet side by differential pistons o, o<1>, between which the main pressure is admitted by a passage p. The valve e controls the supply to the apparatus connected to the port h while the valve e<1> controls the exhaust.
