Piston valves. - A valve, particularly adapted for use with stand pipes, comprises a tubular valve member adapted to work in a seat formed of a series of cup-leathers. The cup-leathers b, c, d are fitted internally with rigid rings e, f, g, the rings e, f being separated by a plate s and secured in position by a gland h screwed into the casing. The leathers c, d are separated by means of a ring i having internal and external grooves k, j connected by apertures l in a vertical wall. The valve member is held closed by the inlet pressure assisted by a spring t, and is provided with a series of apertures q so that, when these apertures are brought opposite the groove k, liquid may flow through the ports l to the groove j which is connected to the outlet r. In the form shown, the valve is actuated by a lever n, but a screw mechanism may be employed. The valve may be arranged as a multiple-way device.
