Abstract

417,615. Geyser control valves. RUDGE & CO., Ltd., H. E., and RUDGE, H. E., 109, Emily Street, Birmingham. April 21, 1933, No. 11637. [Class 135.] A valve 19 controlling the supply of gas to the burner of a geyser is actuated by the pressure differential across an adjustable restriction 11 in the water supply pipe acting on the opposite faces of a piston 9. A lever 13 having a central spherical part 13<a> engaging a seat 15<d> under the action of a spring and fitted with an eccentrically mounted flexible packing diaphragm 12 clamped by a nut 16 between lateral branches on the gas and water casings engages at its opposite ends with double frusto-centrical holes in pistons 9, 17. The piston 9 works in a cylindrical housing 5 closed at each end by apertured plugs 5<a>, 5b coupled to the water pipe 4 and geyser supply pipe respectively and connected by a side passage 10 throttled by a screw 11. The piston 17 is coupled to the spindle 18 of the gas valve which comprises a lift valve closure 19b fitted with a ported skirt 19. A domed flexible packing washer 21 is fitted to the spindle 18. A port 9<b> is provided in the piston 9 to conduct water to one face of the diaphragm 12.
