373,597. Fluid-actuated valves. CLA YTON, G. H., 57, Dane Road, Sale, Cheshire, and ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Jan. 14, 1931, No. 1336. [Class 135.] A valve operated in response to variations in the pressure of an independent fluid system comprises a conical valve member which cooperates with a sharp edged seating, the crosssectional area of the valve spindle being substantially equal to the area of the valve seat orifice. A base 1 is provided with two cylindrical chambers 2, 3. The conical valve 4, the spindle 6 of which is slidably mounted in a gland 7, co-operates with a seat 5 located in the chamber 3 having an inlet 11 and an outlet 12. A forked knuckle on the spindle 6 is pivoted to a lever 8 which is in turn pivoted to a link 10 and links 13. The link 10 is also pivoted to a bracket 22 on the base 1, and the links 13 at their lower ends are pivoted to a piston-rod 14. A piston 15 connected to the rod 14 is subject to the pressure of an independent fluid which has access to the chamber 2 by the passage 16. A drainage outlet 17 is connected to the space above the piston. The valve is biased to the open position by a spring 18 connected to the lever 8 and an eyebolt 19 adjustably mounted in a bracket 20. The ratio of the movement of the piston to that of the valve may be varied by pivoting the lever 8 at any of the positions 9, 91, 9<11>.
