Abstract
374,421. Rotary engines. WEGE, W. J. F., Hope Street, South Brisbane, and MONTEITH, R. G., Bundamba, both in Queensland, Australia. Feb. 3, 1931, No. 3416. [Class 110 (ii).] In a reversible hydraulic rotary engine or pump comprising a rotor E fixed to a shaft C located in the centre of a casing B<1>, and having slots to accommodate sliding vanes L which are guided by rollers M<1> in cam grooves M<2> in the casing end covers and having an abutment H located between the inlet and outlet ports G<1>, G<2>, a three way valve N<1> controls admission and exhaust of working fluid to or from the ports G<1>, G<2>. When the engine is to act as a brake, the valve is turned to blank off the inlet and outlet ports The valve casing has four ports arranged on the same plane and equidistant circumferentially, and two other ports on another plane. Twin pipes lead from a source of power supply to one pair of valve case ports, and twin pipes lead from the other pair of valve case ports to the engine.
