Abstract
441,339. Rotary engines. ENDERSEN, J., Greenfield, Stillorgan Road, Donnybrook, Dublin. July 17, 1934, Nos. 20851 and 20852. [Class 110 (ii)] The engine or pump has sliding-rocking vanes 20 mounted on pins 8 which extend from a driving disc 6 to a sealing plate 10 which rotates upon a spigot 16 concentric with a driving shaft 5. The vanes slide in oscillating blocks 19 mounted in a rotor 9 which is supported upon an eccentric portion 17 of a spindle S. Cross passages 29 allow communication between diametrically opposite slots 30. Shoes 21, pivoted on pins 8, slide around the bore of a casing 7 which is integral with the disc 6. Ports in the disc 10, between the pins 8, communicate with segmental inlet and outlet ports in the cover 15. The eccentricity of the rotor 9 may be varied by turning the spindle S through rack - andpinion mechanism and so rotating the portion 17 through an angle. In the extreme position the direction of flow of the working fluid may be reversed. In a modification two vanes only are used, and the inlet and outlet ports are arranged in the outer casing wall.
