Abstract

334,476. Muller, W. C. Jan. 18, 1929, [Convention date]. Fixed-abutment type; valves, distributing and cut-off; governing and regulating; discharge and suction pipes and passages for pumps, blowers, and exhausters.-In a rotary pump or motor for a hy draulic transmission gear a gyratory piston 7 is connected to a stationary casing 1 by vanes 5 which slide in segments 6a in the piston and oscillate in circular seatings 4b in the casing. A driving shaft 12 is fixed to a rectangular block 11 which, in the case of a pump, through roller bearings 13, turns an eccentrically-disposed bush 9 and the bush causes the piston 7 to gyrate. Roller bearings 8a separate bush and piston. The eccentricity of the bush can be varied by means of a handlever 15 which through a sliding-rod 17 and a bell-crank lever 18 moves a pin 14 which bears on each end of a rectangular slot 10 in the bush 9 The end of the lever 15 is bifurcated and straddles the pin 17 which is free to rotate with the bush 9. Fluid to be pumped enters a circular groove 24 by way of a passage 23 and then through ports 30 in a camoperated distributor-ring 26, Fig. 3, passes to conduits 32 to the expanding pumping chambers 33a. Pins 28 in pockets 29 prevent the ring 26 from rotating. Fluid is pumped from the contracting chambers 33b back through conduits 32 to ports 30 and then delivered to a circular groove 34 and outlet 35. In an alternative fluid-distribution system rotating disc is used in place of the distributing-ring and two semi-circular slots of different radii alternately connect the conduits 32 with the inlet and outlet grooves 24 and 34. The shaft 12 may remain stationary and the casing 1 revolve. Fig. 8 illustrates a system embodying a pump 48 and a motor 50 power being supplied to the pump through a coupling 47 and taken from the motor by means of a coupling 50a. Make-up-oil is supplied from a tank 52 by means of a gear-wheel pump 53 through non-return valves 56. An adjustable relief valve 54b is provided. Fluid leaking along the pump and motor shafts is drained away through pipes 57 and delivered to the tank 52 by a pump 58.
