Abstract

280,267. Bonham, J. Aug. 6, 1926. Fixed-abutment type; valve-gear.-A rotary engine of the type comprising a peripherally grooved rotor h with radially-sliding vanes j pressed outwardly by springs and withdrawn to pass an abutment g on the casing which projects into the groove, is provided with eccentric guide rails m situated on the casing and within the working space which press back the vanes j into the rotor when passing the abutment g and then allow the vanes to extend again into the working space. Inlet and exhaust ports n, o are provided for one direction of rotation and ports n<1>, o' for the reverse direction, a valve controlling the connection of the ports to the supply and exhaust pipes. For compound working a number of engines of increasing dimensions are arranged in series.
