Abstract

520,914. Rotary engines. STURM, E. Nov. 4, 1938, No. 32020. Convention date, Nov. 10, 1937. [Class 110 (ii)] The invention deals with a sliding-vane pump forming part of a liydraulic transmission unit. The vanes 12 .slide in slots in a rotor 2, and are provided with part-circular packing blocks 16, 17, at their outer and inner ends, which bear against the bore of a casing 6, and support rings 20, respectively. The casing walls 7, which rotate with the part 6, may have spigots 18. Fluid is admitted to the crescent-shaped working chamber 8 by way of an inlet 14 and radial passages 13, and leaves by passages 13 and an outlet 15. The eccentricity of the parts 6, 10, with respect to the casing 1, is altered by means of a handwheel 21 and a screw-threaded spindle 22, and a threaded portion of the part 10. The spigots 18 may be dispensed with, and the sides of the rings 20 bear against the side walls 7. The engine of the transmission unit is not shown, being cut off by the chain-dotted line XX.
