Abstract

369,127. Elastic fluid turbines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and CHITTENDEN, J. P., South Lodge, Westfield, Rugby. July 29, 1931, No. 21630. Addition to 210,288, [Class 110 (iii), Turbines &c.]. [Class 110 (iii).] In elastic fluid turbines in which the blade fixing is of the type described in the parent Specification, the blade roots d, e, f are formed with a series of alternate ridges and grooves fitting in corresponding grooves and ridges in the rim g. The ridges may have the same width as at d<1>, d<2>, d<3>, or of diminishing widths towards the root, as at f<1>, f<2>, f<3>. The periphery of the rim has an axial taper, as shown in Fig. 4, to ensure a tight fit between the blades and the wheel.
