Abstract

377,101. Turbine blades. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and HOOKINS, L. C., Westside, Hampden Way, Bilton, Rugby. Jan. 19, 1932, No. 1573. [Class 110 (iii).] A shrouding band c is secured to the blades a of a turbine by an auxiliary strip d. The shrouding band c is provided with holes which pass over projections b on the blades, and the strip d has notches e so that it may be moved axially to engage grooves f in the projections b. The strip is then locked by welding g or by rivers h. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the locking strip d is adapted to be moved into position circumferentially, and for this purpose has key-hole slots e<1>. Each blade may have two tongues b. In a further modification the locking strip is replaced by square section wires engaging circumferential slots.
