374,377. Turbine blades. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Dec. 11, 1931, No. 34377. Convention date, Jan. 19. [Class 110 (iii).] A turbine blade consists of a core which is formed integrally with or is rigidly connected to the rotor disc, and to which the leading and trailing edges are welded or soldered after the core has been fixed to the rim. In Figs. 1 and 2 the cores 2 are formed by machining the rotor disc 1, and the blade edges 5 are afterwards attached by welding 6. Water circulating passages 8 may be provided. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the blade cores are screwed into the disc, and are held by welding at 11. The blade edges 12 are then welded on. The blades may be sharpened off at 18, or may be shrouded. They may have water channels 15 defined by plugs 17 and insertions 16.
