Abstract
374,383. Turbine blades. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Jan. 8, 1932, No. 587. Convention date, Jan. 19, 1931. [Class 110 (iii).] A gas turbine blade consists of a cooled core rigidly connected to the rotor, and an uncooled sheath which is slipped over the core and forms the blade proper. In Fig. 1 the cores 1 are machined out of the rim of the rotor 2, the cooling water channels 3 being stopped by plugs 4 which may be welded to the shrouding band 7. The blade forming sheaths 6, which are slipped over the cores, are retained in position by the band 7. In the modification shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the core 8 is screwed into the rotor 9 and welded at 10. The blade forming sheath 12 may be welded to the core at the bottom or at the top.
