Abstract

677,052. Elastic fluid turbines AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. Dec. 19, 1950 [Dec. 28, 1949], No. 30873/50. Class 110(iii) A turbine rotor is provided with a single row of hollow blades 1 communicating with a space 6 in the rotor body forming an enclosure for a cooling medium subjected in operation to vaporization and 'condensation, and separate streams of eooling medium are directed radially outwards from the hub against both end walls of the rotor. The rotor body may comprise two parts threaded together and may have cooling ribs thereon. The blades are welded together to form a blade ring which is then welded to the rotor body. In a modification the roots of the blade ring have cooling spaces communicating with the space in the rotor body.
