Abstract
452,412. Cooling turbine rotors. MARTINKA, M., 7, Schweizerstrasse, Duisburg, Germany. Nov. 22, 1934, Nos. 33640 and 33641. Convention dates, Nov. 25, 1933 and March 31, 1934. [Class 110 (iii)] The rim of the rotor of a turbine, particularly a gas turbine, is impinged upon by cooling-gases, and has incisions e, f to prevent transfer of heat to tho unpierced central part of the rotor. The roots of the blades 3 may be provided with channels 4, Fig. 7, and the blades may have cooling passages 22. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which the circulated cooling-medium, which may be oil, is fed to side chambers n, but does not contact with the rotor, a flow of cooling-air being set up in passages o. Several modifications are described.
