382,547. Gas &c. turbines. AKTIEBOLAGET MILO, 32, Kungsgatan, Stockholm. April 11, 1932, No. 10318. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1931. [Class 110 (iii).] In a gas turbine a portion of the driving medium, which is not heated, is used to cool exposed parts and is then mixed with the other portion for use in the turbine. In Fig. 1 the air supply is divided into two parts the first of which is heated in a pipe 15 by fuel from a pipe 18 and then passes by distributing chambers 11, 12 to a turbine 6 of radial-flow type having oppositely-running rotors. The cooler second part passes by the outer pipe 16 to cooling spaces 19 after which it mixes with the heated air. Blades 25, 26 deflect cooling air upon the bond rings, and holes 28 admit it to the central parts. The arrangement at the centre may be modified. The distributing chambers 11, 12 are movably mounted on bolts 13. Different gases may be used for the two purposes. Certain parts may be made of a siliconchromium-aluminium alloy.
