586,557. Gas turbines. BAUMANN, K., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 12, 1942, No. 472. [Class 110 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] The rotors of a contra-rotational turbine 2 drive a contra-rotational pair of air-screws 3 through reduction gear including pinions 20 mounted on fixed shafts 19 and internallytoothed wheels 24 resiliently attached to the airscrew bosses. The turbine exhaust passes through annular channels 25 in the bosses and these channels may be bladed merely to pass the exhaust or to extract power from the exhaust. Beyond the airscrews, the exhaust passes to a reaction propulsion jet 1. The contra-rotational turbine rotors may drive a single airscrew through appropriate gearing and a single rotation turbine may drive either a single airscrew or a contra-rotational pair. Specification 586,556 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
