Abstract

582,151. Gas turbines. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. April 13, 1944, No. 6872. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1943. [Class 110 (iii)] A gas turbine plant for jet-propulsion of aircraft is provided with a starting equipment comprising a gas generator 31 with a nozzle 37 and semi-circular buckets 28 on the side of the turbine rotor. The buckets discharge into the turbine exhaust. The generator 31 may be a cartridge containing powder which will burn progessively without detonation and may be fired electrically. Access to the cartridge is provided by a hinged cover plate 33.
