355,826. Turning-gear. OLSEN, P. E. EGENFELDT-, 9, Vejlegade, Copenhagen. May 30, 1930, No. 16803. [Class 7 (v).] In a starter in which a fly-wheel 3 is set in rotation by an electric motor 6 or other means and then coupled to the engine shaft 1, the fly-wheel 3 and a disc 9 are both axially movable and rotatable on the engine-shaft and are coupled by means such as bolts 10, and a friction disc 12 between the disc 9 and the flywheel is rigidly mounted on the engine shaft. At starting, a hand-lever 17 holds the flywheel out of engagement with the disc 12 until the flywheel is set in rotation, when the lever 17 is operated and allows springs 11 on the bolts 10 to effect engagement. A cam or eccentric 9a on the hub of the disc 9 actuates a lubricating pump at starting. In a modification, the disc 9 is driven by a motor such as 6 and is moved into and out of engagement with the friction disc 12 by the lever 17, and a clutch between the motor and the disc 9 may be disengaged simultaneously with the engagement of the discs 9, 12.
